The Pants Policy (and other house rules)

In the spirit of summer, my boys have spent some time chilling in just their diapers. Then one day, things took an unfortunate (and messy) turn. Having been put to bed in just a diaper, at some point in the night, Abel realized the freedom that comes with the ability to remove said diaper, and then proceeded to do all sorts of business in his new free state.  After cleaning up my fun wakeup surprise, I returned to the living room where the boys were playing, to find that Calvin had climbed in their pack and play, removed his diaper, and also celebrated his freedom.  This is where the mandatory Pants Policy was born.  Perhaps in response to this edict, the guys have instituted their own house rules:

  • Mom and Dad’s bed is now essentially their bed. Draper the dog has a similar policy.
  • Naps must be taken in shifts, and it may be ruled that they are optional.
  • Snuggles on demand are NOT optional.
  • At least one half of each meal must be fed to the dogs. The rule still applies in venues where no dogs are present.
  • All drinking straws must be immediately surrendered to both children. Good luck if you just have one.
  • Only foods that have some crunch are acceptable.

Clearly, they run a tight ship. If you have any suggestions on how I can break these rules, I would appreciate it. Except for the on demand snuggling – I will obey that one until I have to make it my rule instead.

They mean business.

They mean business.
